Yvonne L. "Bonnie" (Saville) Young

December 24, 1951 — August 28, 2025

Moravia

With heavy hearts and plenty of stories to tell, we announce the passing of Yvonne “Bonnie” Young (Saville), age 73, of Moravia, who left this world peacefully on August 28, 2025, with her loving family by her side. To her great grandchildren, she was known as their “Mamaw,” and to her stepson, affectionately (and sometimes mischievously) “The Bon.”

Bonnie shared a quiet country life with her husband, David, and their two cats, Sandy and Oscar. Their love story was unique in its own special way: she spent years trying to get “Daver” to clean the garage. He is still working slowly towards this goal. She also entrusted him to give her a fair deal on a car… though being married to a used car dealer didn’t guarantee much success on that front either. Still, they made a life of laughter, debating politics, watching old westerns, and enjoying countless meals together at their favorite spot, Kostas in Auburn.

“The Bon” loved a good game night, especially an exciting game of cards (which means she won)… and it was nearly impossible for her to pass a casino without at least “just stopping in” (for an hour… or eight). She found joy in gardening, coloring, crocheting, crafts, and above all, in her family. The great loves of her life were her great-grandchildren, Daven, Joey, Gracie, Lilly and Alex. She made it her mission to cheer them on at every game, performance, and class. If she couldn’t be there, you’d better believe she demanded someone capture it on tape!

Born on Christmas Eve, December 24,1951 in Auburn, NY, to Harold “Corky” and Betty Saville, Bonnie quickly became the heart and glue of her family. Known for her sharp wit, strong opinions, and relentless debating skills, she rarely lost an argument… mostly because you’d eventually surrender just to get some peace. She created an inviting, cozy home where memories were made and will be forever cherished.

Her generosity and love showed in every detail of her life. She was the mastermind of family dinners, pool parties, and legendary Christmases, where her stockings were unmatched, and her Christmas tree often stayed up well into March. She gave freely, laughed often, and made every gathering feel like home.

One of Bonnie’s greatest acts of love was raising her special "daughter” Ashley. Their bond was special and unbreakable. From fond memories of bedtime stories, pool days, late-night snuggles. To Ashley, Bonnie was a safe place, a teacher, a cheerleader. Later in life, she stood proudly by Ashley’s side as she raised her own children, continuing to pour love and wisdom into the next generation. Ashley will forever cherish every memory, lesson, and ounce of support she received from her beloved “Mamaw”.

Her daughter Tina didn’t just lose a mother; she lost her truest confidante and partner-in-crime. She’ll carry forever the sound of Bon’s one-of-a-kind laugh, the kind that could fill a room and make even the hardest day lighter. Tina will miss the way she could tell her absolutely anything and count on getting the honest truth back, delivered with equal parts of love and, when needed, bluntness. Conway Twitty and the country greats will forever be the soundtrack to their time together, songs that now play like love letters from the past. And while Christmas cookie weekends will never again be quite as sweet, the laughter, warmth, and playful joy they shared will live on in Tina’s heart forever.

Bonnie leaves behind her husband, David Young, Sr.; her brothers Wayne Saville and Perry (Mary) Saville; her sister Connie (Robert) Feeter; her special "daughter” Ashley Manning (Davenport) (Kevin Thurston); daughter Tina Kehoe (Phil Kenyon); stepsons Sean Young, Todd Young, David Young, Jr. (Jennifer) and Bradley Young; grandchildren Jessica (Adam) Wagner and Hannah Kehoe (Derek Mensch); great-grandchildren Daven, Joey, Gracie, Lilly and Alex; her nephew Justin (Rebecca) Saville; many other nieces / nephews; and her best friend, Jo Ann “JoJo” Merical, with whom she shared endless laughter and memories.

She is reunited in peace with her parents, Harold “Corky” and Betty Saville, and her brothers Shawn, Larry, and Tracy Saville, all of whom she honored and remembered throughout her life… always keeping their memories alive.

As we say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing her spirit is free, dancing among the hummingbirds she adored, a tender reminder of life’s beauty and fragility. Though her absence leaves a void that can never be filled, her love will forever echo in our hearts. May her memory guide us to live as she did—fiercely, fully, and without end. Rest peacefully, beloved “Mamaw.” Your light will never fade.

A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at a later date that the family will announce.

Proudly written in love and honor by Stepson, David Young, JR
