Susan Jean Naylor

Susan Jean Naylor, 68, of Locke, passed away on March 18, 2026 at Cayuga Medical Center after a recent illness.

Sue was born on March 6, 1958 in Cortland, and was a lifelong area resident. She attended Moravia Central School and graduated afterwards from Newfield Central School. Her studies in the BOCES childcare program helped prepare Sue for her role as a homemaker, wife, and, most of all, a patient care giver for her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed collecting glassware.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James "Jim" Naylor; son, Jason Naylor (Heather Pooler); daughter, Jessica Miles (Matthew); father, Lloyd Phelps; mother, Jean Liddick Tittlebaum; grandchildren: Jasmine Badman (Brian), Cassidy Pooler (Tyler Ryan), Jason Naylor, Jr., Riley Brown (Madison), and Caitlyn Naylor; great-granddaughter, Harper Badman; siblings: Allen Phelps (Nancy), Nancy Sperrazza (Charles), and Roger Phelps (Jackie); half-brother, Matthew Tittlebaum; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Robbie Phelps.

Friends may call at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton from 12:00 -1:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Bird Cemetery, Locke.
