Poplar Ridge, NY – Susan M. Landon, 72, beloved mother and friend passed away peacefully at her home on August 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, secure in her faith and trust in God.
She was born on July 3, 1953, and grew up in Venice (NY), the daughter of the late Harold and Beverly (Myers) Landon. She graduated from Southern Cayuga High School in 1971.
Sue is survived by her greatest joys, her daughter Molly Dugan, of Scipio Center; her honorary daughters, Rebecca Dugan of Cranston, RI, Bailey Dugan Theriault (William) of Weare, NH, and their daughter, Sierra Theriault. She is also survived by the father of her children and his wife, Brian and Jill Dugan; Michael, Chelsea, and Haley D’Agostino; and dear friends, Susan and Chuck Hilliard and their family.
When her girls were growing up, Sue worked for Southern Cayuga Central School for 19 years. In the summers she could be found helping to get classrooms ready for the fall and throughout the year she put her artistic skills to use by creating amazing posters and bulletin boards. Sue was very dedicated to all of her students, always striving to make sure they improved critical skills and achieved their full potential.
For the last 11 years Sue has been the office manager at Aurora Ridge Dairy working for friends, Bill and Penney Cook. More importantly she was the mother to “her boys” at the farm, making birthday cakes for them and proudly displaying photos of and artwork by their children.
Many fond memories were made with Sue at the Wells College Golf Course Clubhouse (Aurora). It was there she spent time with so many friends and was always ready to assist Molly with community gatherings. Sue’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Clubhouse; 170 Main Street, Aurora, NY, 13026, on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, 2-6 PM. All are welcome to join Sue’s family as they celebrate her life and memory.
Finally, the family thanks everyone for the outpouring love shown to Sue. She was able to be at home because of the compassionate and professional care provided by Heartfelt Homecare, and Hospice of CNY.
Sue was a treasured mother and friend. She is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please hold a loved one close, volunteer in your community, or help someone in need.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa, NY, and online condolences may be shared with Susan's family at www.shurtleffservices.com .
