Stuart L. Weeks

Stuart L. Weeks, 75, of Genoa, passed away on November 27, 2023 at home.

 

He was born December 16, 1947 in Cortland, a son of the late Emerson and Helen (Geiger) Weeks.  A lifelong area resident, Stuart served 25 years as a NYS Corrections Officer, retiring as a Lieutenant at the Cayuga Correctional Facility. He had also worked in the mechanics and construction trades.  He enjoyed Sunday coffee with his friends at Dugan's and loved his many trips to the Tennessee mountains.

 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon (Matijas) Weeks; his daughters: Janette Wheeler (Claude), of Genoa, Stacey Weeks, of Trumansburg, and Jessica Chamberlain (William), of Scipio Center; grandchildren: Taylor Reynolds (Tom), Addison, Zachary (Sam), & Chloe Chamberlain, Zoe, Cora, & Chase Weeks-Purdy, Katie & Ben (Jac) Wheeler, Kimberly Stevens (Neil) and Brian Wheeler; great-grandchildren: Oliver Reynolds, Paisley, Bella & William Chamberlain, Grace Hilker, and Wesley, Nelson, Henry & Lena Stevens; sisters: Alice Blovsky, Phyllis Weeks, LuAnn Weeks, and Christine Weidman (Ed); brothers: Keith Weeks (Gail), Rock Weeks (Dale), and Roger Weeks; and many nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Dale Weeks, and in-laws, Carolyn Weeks and Bob Blovsky.

  

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 3 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 State Route 90, Genoa. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00-2:00 PM, preceding the service. A reception will follow at the Moravia VFW.  Private interment will be held at a later time in the New Hope Cemetery.
