Sarah Elizabeth LaFitte, 34, of Groton, passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2023.
Born June 13, 1989 in Cortland, she was a lifelong area resident and attended Groton Central School. Sarah became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and was employed for several years with the Groton Community Health Care Center. Most recently, she provided home health care services for Northwoods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
If you knew Sarah, you knew that she was an avid animal lover her entire life, and that she also loved elephants, plants, and Marilyn Monroe, filling her home with their representations. Her all-time favorite movie was "Practical Magic," and her go-to shows were "Charmed" and "Roseanne." She was known to break out into Disney tunes to match the events or situations happening: she made us laugh until we cried- we wonder now what she is singing!
She is survived by her parents, Mary O'Bannion Dennis and Jerome Dennis; her siblings: Amanda O'Bannion (Randy Allen), Danny Rafferty (Max), Angela Dennis, and Rachel LaFitte; and her birth mother, Ann LaFitte. She was predeceased by her birth father, Charles LaFitte.
Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, September 8 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton. A Time of Remembrance will immediately follow the calling hour at the funeral home.
