Sandra J Klumpp

Jan 11, 1942 — Oct 6, 2026

Summerhill, NY

Sandra J. Springsteen Klumpp, 84, of Summerhill, NY, and Cameron, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse, NY.

Sandra was born on January 11, 1942, in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of the late Clarence “Lefty” Springsteen and the late Bette (Wildrick) Springsteen. She grew up in Doraville, NY, and graduated from Harpursville Central School District in 1959.

On June 20, 1963, Sandra married the love of her life, Gordon Klumpp. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with family, friendships, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Sandra owned and operated Sandra’s Beauty Salon for many years, where she enjoyed making others feel beautiful and cared for. She especially loved her life at Lake Como, where she and Gordon spent treasured time at Klumpp Camp, watching beautiful sunrises and taking boat rides on the “Sandra J.” She loved hosting Friday night gatherings with friends at Lake Como and later continued the tradition with friends in North Carolina.

Sandra had a generous heart and was always ready to help others in any way she could. Whether picking up groceries for a neighbor, caring for a friend’s lawn, or simply helping someone with a daily task, she found joy in making life a little easier for those around her. Her kindness and willingness to help will be remembered by many.

Sandra was a woman of many talents and passions. She enjoyed photography, quilting, decorating her home, and, most of all, skiing. She continued doing the things she loved until recently. She especially enjoyed skiing at Greek Peak and Gore Mountain and proudly served on ski patrol at Labrador Mountain. Her beautiful quilts, photography, and lovingly decorated home reflected her creativity, artistic ability, and wonderful sense of style.

Christmas was Sandra’s favorite time of year. She loved decorating her home and celebrating the season surrounded by family and friends. Sandra had a special gift for making a house feel like a home, filling it with warmth, beauty, laughter, and love.

She also loved Elvis music and could often be found encouraging those around her to sing and dance along with her. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious, and she brought laughter and happiness wherever she went.

Above all else, Sandra cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Family was the utmost priority in her life, and the love she had for her family was evident in everything she did.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Clarence “Lefty” Springsteen and Bette (Wildrick) Springsteen and her sister, Janie Roys.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Gordon Klumpp; her two sons, Kevin Klumpp of North Carolina and Brian (Phyllis) Klumpp of Groton, NY; her grandsons, Jacob and Logan Klumpp, along with their mother, Liana Klumpp; step-grandchildren Kristy Litzenberger, Brian Litzenberger (Kayla Roos), and Nickolas Litzenberger (Grace Casagrande); her great-granddaughter, Teagan Litzenberger; her loving companion, Rosie; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, at Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00–3:00 p.m., preceding the service.
