Moravia

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth "Midge" Ann Holloway Lamphere, 76, of Moravia, on June 24, 2025, after a courageous battle.

Ruth was born on March 9, 1949 in Auburn, NY, a daughter of the late Lyman and Lena (Kellogg) Perrine. Raised in Moravia, she attended Moravia Central School and graduated in 1968. She attended Auburn Community College, graduating in 1987 with an associates degree in accounting, with honors.

Ruth worked at Wells College for 17 years, and later retired from the Cayuga County Health Department in 2019.

Ruth had a number of hobbies. In her younger years she played on Fiorelli's softball team in Moravia. She bowled on various leagues throughout the area over the years. She loved to learn and took several classes while working at Wells College. She was a talented and creative lady. She enjoyed learning to play piano, banjo, accordion, and violin; took many art classes; enjoyed crocheting, and in her later years got into card making. Ruth left behind pieces of artwork that her family and friends will forever cherish. Ruth's quick wit, sarcastic nature, and her love of life will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bruce A. Lamphere, of Moravia; four daughters: Tina Faraj (Hatem), of FL, Christina Holloway, Theresa Holloway, and Kimberly MacDuffee (John), all of Moravia; a step-son, Jerry Lamphere (Michelle), of Weedsport; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her siblings: Sherry Young (Johnny), of LA, Sandy Eldred (Wayne), of Groton, Dave Perrine (Candy), of Moravia, Don Perrine (Nancy), of King Ferry, Darlene Tallman and Lynn Seamans, both of Sempronius, Diane Henson (Sam), of AZ, and Daniel Perrine (Crystal), of Moravia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Holloway, in 1991.
