Paul L. Palmer, 78, of Locke NY passed away on May 24, 2024 in the home he built. Paul was born on March 10, 1946 in Syracuse, NY and was the son of Lois (Dusseau) Barber and Ernest Palmer. He was a graduate of Moravia Central School and proudly served in the United States Navy where he was deployed on the USS Lawrence DDG-4. He was a loyal and dedicated employee for over 25 years and retired from Borg Warner Automotive. He served as Locke Town Supervisor for many years and has been a life member of the Moravia VFW Post 7127.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anne Marie (Nolan) Palmer; his daughters Lynne Marie Palmer of Florida and Natalie Renee Palmer (Brian Dixon) of New Jersey; granddaughters Isabella and Arielle; his sister Anita Burhans (Matthew) of Moravia; nephew Joshua Burhans (Amy Marcellus); and bonus son John Muschko.
Paul was a family man who adored his granddaughters. He had integrity, was honest, and is known for his great sense of humor. He loved his snowbird life in Florida. His passions were fishing the Finger Lakes, baseball (NY Mets), history, coin collecting, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was a long time tournament fisherman with the Crown City Bassmasters and proud to call Jon Austin his BFF “Best Fishing Friend”.
Private services with military honors will be held for family at North Lansing Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to his Celebration of Life Saturday, June 1st at 2pm at the Moravia VFW Post 7127 on 14 Adams St. Moravia, NY. Paul requested, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his honor to the Four Town First Aid Squad, PO Box 28, 109 Main St. Moravia, NY, 13118. He respected their professionalism and was grateful for their services. Arrangements are with the Shurtleff Funeral Home and online condolences may be shared at www.shurtleffservices.com.
