Pastor Manley T. Johnson

Venice Center
Pastor Manley T. Johnson, 87, of Venice Center, peacefully passed from this life into the presence of Christ on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Brockport, NY on June 8, 1938, he was the son of Floyd and Susie (Hall) Johnson.
He went to Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY and graduated in June 1966. In August, he was ordained at Calvary Baptist Church, Fair Haven, NY. His first pastorate was at Brooklyn Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY from 1966-1969. He was then the pastor of Venice Baptist Church, Venice Center, NY from 1969-2013 when a stroke forced his retirement.
Manley was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2019. With the care given by several home health aides, Manley was able to remain at home where he was most comfortable. We are so grateful to our aides for becoming part of our family and making this possible.
Manley was predeceased by his parents, brother Larry Johnson, sister-in-law Joyce Johnson, brother-in-law Abram Nevelizer, and granddaughter Deborah Davis.
Surviving are his wife, son Timothy (Colleen) Johnson of Elbridge, NY, daughter Michele (Stanley) Davis of Union Springs, NY, five grandchildren: David (Stephanie) Johnson, Kevin (Kelsi) Johnson, Matthew (Emma) Johnson, Nathan Johnson, and Benjamin Davis, eight great-grandchildren: Peter, Samuel, Emma, James, Daniel, Cassia, Gladys, and Callum.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24 at the Venice Baptist Church, 2457 Stewarts Corners Road, Venice Center. Visitation at the church will precede the services from 1:30 - 3:00 PM. Spring interment will be in the North Wolcott Cemetery.
