Michael D. Wilson

Michael D. Wilson, 64, of Mexico, passed away on September 11, 2023 at Crouse Hospital.

 

Michael was born on August 10,1959 in Ithaca, a son of the late Floyd Wilson and Judy (Hards) Niven. A graduate of Ithaca Central School and Tompkins Cortland Community College, he had been employed in several capacities with the Mexico Central School District and raised three sons with his wife, Margaret. Active in the Mexico community, he was a communicant of St. Anne Mother of Mary Church. He enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and Syracuse sports. Most importantly, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Margaret (Carey) Wilson; sons: Matt (Cassidy), of Hoboken, NJ, James (Adelle), of Queens, NY, and Joseph, of Mexico; his grandson, Ryan; a brother, Edward Wilson, of VA;  a sister, Sue Stallings (Charles), of NC; many nieces and nephews; and a large, extended family.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 15 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 312 Locke Rd. (NYS Rt. 38), Groton.  Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.  There are no public calling hours.  Arrangements are with the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Groton (www.shurtleffservices.com).
