Marie Frances O'Shea

Marie Frances O'Shea, 100, formerly of Groton, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2023 at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca.

She was born July 17, 1922 in Raleigh, NC, daughter of the late Fred and Alta (Eaton) Peacock. An area resident most of her life, she graduated from Homer High School. "Franky" was an assistant at the Groton Public Library for 20 years, and was a member of the Columbian Club, Fortnightly, the Groton Beautification Committee and was a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed reading and sewing.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah O'Shea, of Springfield, VT; sons, Leo O'Shea (Bonnie), of Auburn, MA and Dennis O'Shea, of Groton; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Howard J. O'Shea (2006), a son, Max O'Shea (1978), her sister, Lucy Peacock, and brothers, Harold Peacock, Sr. and Charles Peacock.

Private interment will be in Bath National Cemetery.  A family celebration of life will be held at a later time. There are no public services. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, are graciously directed to the Groton Public Library, 112 E. Cortland St., Groton, NY 13073. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Groton.
