Linda Ann Grace

Linda Ann Grace, 73, of Cortland, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 13, 2025.

She was born on February 23, 1952, in Astoria, Queens, NYC. Linda was the daughter of the late William and Jeanette (Caldrone) Haberland.

She spent many years in Westchester County before building her beloved dream home in New Fairfield, Connecticut, a place that reflected her creative spirit and eye for beauty.

Linda worked for many years as an office manager and bookkeeper before returning to school to earn her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the College of New Rochelle.

It was there that she embraced her lifelong passion for art and architecture, working as an interior designer with several firms in the greater New York area. Known for her distinctive style and thoughtful attention to detail, she brought beauty and warmth to every space she touched.

She retired to the Groton area in 2009, where she continued to find joy in the arts, home design, and spending time with loved ones. She will be remembered for her generous heart, quick wit, and the deep love she had for her family.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. Grace and Alison (Bos) Grace; her cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Evangeline, Noah, and Mackenzie, all of Naugatuck, CT; step-daughter Dianna Linekin and her husband Robert, of Naples, FL; sisters Marjory Yunger, of Locke, NY and Edna Nelson, of Centereach, Long Island, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

She was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends may call from 2:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, May 31 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Ave., Groton. A funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours at 3:00 PM.
