Lance D. Hoag, 63, of Groton, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 22, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Karla (Sovocool) Hoag; children: Caitlin Hoag (Troy), of NY, Douglas Nelson, of NY, Kristina Portillo (Alex), of CA, and Kristen Schuster (Teger), of WA; siblings: Deborah Lewis, of KY, Rebecca Isabel, of KY, Robin Swenk (Bill), of AZ, Scott Hoag, of NY, and Melissa Shepherd (Joe), of TX; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many aunts and uncles. He loved all his family and held a special place in his heart for his youngest granddaughter, Anna-Lee Cobb, whom he raised like a daughter for six years.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 29 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton, with funeral services to begin at Noon. Interment will follow in Indian Mound Cemetery, Moravia. Buffalo Bills attire is encouraged and appreciated in his honor.
