Gary L. Scutt

Gary L. Scutt, 72, of Groton, passed away at home unexpectedly on July 26, 2024.

Gary was born November 2, 1951 in Cortland, a son of the late Raymond and Inez (Dellow) Scutt. He attended the Dryden schools and served honorably in the US Marine Corps.

Gary retired after 29 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Town of Groton. In earlier years, he was employed with O'Shea Tire Service. He was a past member of the Groton Cruisers and the Post 800 Sons of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Laura Lee (Ivory) Scutt; his children: Theodore Scutt Ivory (Emily), Stacy Vyskocil (Mark Muzzy), and Rachel Scutt (Jim Hamilton); eight grandchildren: Austin & Jesse Vyskocil, Zachary, Mercedes, & Memphis Muzzy, Cameron & Mackenzie Hamilton, and Duncan Callahan; a brother, Ricky Scutt; sisters: Brenda Hill (Keith), Donna Bouck (Gary), Glenna Hill (Rick), and Rondi Edwards; a sister-in-law, Sally Ivory; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton with interment to follow in Groton Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on Tuesday, preceding the funeral.
