Estella W. Alvord passed away peacefully Monday, January 19th, 2026, in Groton, NY.

She was born August 22, 1930, in Enfield, NY to Ira Dewitt Wright and Grace Stark. She married Covert C. Alvord on January 31, 1959. Together, they ran Alvord’s Garage for 40+ years in Locke, NY. They enjoyed retirement as snowbirds between King Ferry, NY and Ocala, FL.

Estella was a bookkeeper and notary for 50+ years for many local businesses including Groton Auto Supply, Baker-Miller Lumber, Moravia Shopper, LAMCO, Rodney’s Service Station, Chuck Draper Trucking, and more.

Estella is survived by her children, Donald Alvord (Beth), Darlaine Hallstead, and Resa Reynolds (Michelle), along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special lifelong friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Covert, stepdaughter Elaine King, sons James and Kenneth Alvord, grandson Joseph Alvord, son-in-law Marvin Hallstead, sister Vivian Chaffee, and brothers Harry, Robert, and Lynn Wright.

Private services will be held in Spring 2026.
