Eric J. Thurston

Eric J. Thurston, 54, of Scipio, passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2025, at Auburn Community Hospital.

Born on May 25, 1971, in Auburn, Eric was the beloved son of Pamela (Clark) Grady of Inman, SC, and the late Ted J. Thurston. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Southern Cayuga Central School and later enjoyed a long career as a Claims Adjuster with State Farm Insurance in Syracuse. Earlier in life, he took great pride in his work as an auto body specialist, spending years honing his skills at David’s Collision and the Ford dealership in Auburn.

Eric is survived by his sons, Nicholas and Nathan Thurston; his mother, Pamela, and her husband, Joe; and his step-siblings, Carmel Grady, Kim Grady, and Jim Grady.

He was predeceased by his father and by his sister, Amy Nichole Thurston.

Eric will be remembered for his warm smile, sharp wit, and unwavering willingness to help others. He had a gift for finding humor even in difficult moments and never missed a chance to share a good story. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

At Eric’s request, there will be no public services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date for family and friends to share memories and honor his life.
