Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Ryan

Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Ryan, of Groton, NY, passed away on November 30, 2025 in Rochester, NY.

Born on February 13, 1938 in Homer, NY, she was the second youngest child of nine, born to Louise and Leon Mott.

Liz was educated at Groton Central School, graduating in 1956.

After serving as a homemaker for 13 years, she was employed at Tompkins-Cortland Community College before spending her remaining career as executive secretary at Empire Soils Investigations in Groton, NY.

She was married for 41 years to David Anthony Ryan, until his death December 6, 1999.

She is survived by four children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her eight siblings.

Liz loved golfing, walking, reading and eating, and was known her entire life as a feisty and spirited friend, co-worker, sibling, mother and wife. She made friends throughout her life and everyone knew to count on her for some mischievous antics.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton when the family will be able to gather from their various distances.
