Daniel E. Galusha, 74, of Cortlandville, passed away on April 24, 2025, at Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse, with Roxann (and Joan) by his side.
Dan was born June 23, 1950 in Cortland, a son of the late Newton and Elizabeth (Summerville) Galusha. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Groton Central School '68 and was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 1972.
While at Cornell he was proud to join the brotherhood of Sigma Nu fraternity and has cherished those friendships throughout his lifetime.
He was a Consultant for 46 years with Farm Credit East, supporting numerous farms throughout New York State in their planning and financing. He has been referred to as a "Legend" in his knowledge and application of tax laws/regulations saving thousands of dollars for his clients. He credits his strong work ethic to growing up on the farm...whether it was milking cows, picking rock in the fields, making maple syrup or picking and loading truckloads of cabbage at harvest time.
Following his retirement, he learned new cooking skills with the help of Home Chef, and enjoyed time on Owasco Lake making new friends, watching the wildlife, the sunrises and captaining his new pontoon boat. He also found time to travel and enjoyed a number of cruises to a variety of destinations.
He is survived by Roxann Buck and their furbabies Mickey and Joey; sisters Bonnie Leck of TX and Cindie Farah (David) of FL; nieces Andrea Galusha (Bill Duba) and Sara Galusha; nephews Justin Farah (Jennifer Simpson) and Michael Galusha (Emily); former sisters-in-law Shirley Galusha and Vivian Galusha, along with great nieces, nephews and many cousins. He considered Roxann's immediate family like his own (Joan and Dan Gibbons, Jamie Gibbons and Emily and Kyle Brown).
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased (2007) by his brother, Newton C. Galusha, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 1, at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 312 Locke Rd, Groton, NY. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday preceding the Mass. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
