Charles Sidney Reeves, Jr., 76, of Genoa, passed away on March 26, 2026 at Cayuga Medical Center.
Chuck was born on October 9, 1949 in Cortland, the son of Charles and Violet Reeves, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1967 graduate of Genoa High School. He served honorably with the United State Navy Seabees Construction Battalion in Vietnam and went on to work for over 20 years as a construction crew leader with Cornell University's Buildings and Grounds Department, where he had been conferred the Red Bear Award.
Chuck was actively involved within his community, serving with the Genoa Fire Department, coaching little league and the former farm teams, and had also been a Boy Scouts of America leader. He was a member of the United Church of Genoa and the Fingerlakes Trail Runners Snowmobile Club. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, better known as a "Daytripper."
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thelma Isabel (Lawrence) Reeves; his children, Eric Reeves (Amy) and Marianne Ridley (Andrew); grandchildren: Sidney Ann Reeves, Lauren Reeves, and Tyler Ridley; sisters, Joan Addy (Ronald) and Joyce Davis (Boyd); and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Douglas Davis.
Chuck's family extends its deepest appreciation to his family, friends, and community for their many kindnesses and support throughout his infirmities. A private memorial service will be held for the family. There are no public calling hours at this time.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, are graciously recommended to the Southern Cayuga Instant Aid Ambulance (SCIA), P.O. Box 7, Poplar Ridge, NY 13139; to the Genoa Fire Department Rescue Squad, 10015 NY-90, Genoa, NY 13071, or to the United Church of Genoa, 10070 NY-90, Genoa, NY 13071.
