Catherine L. Traver

King Ferry

Catherine L. Traver, 89, of King Ferry, passed away on April 7, 2024 at Cayuga Medical Center after a brief illness. 

She was born on November 16, 1934 in Dryden, daughter of the late Philip and Marie (Rumsey) Mack.  A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of King Ferry High School. Cathy worked for many years at Smith Corona in Groton and Cortland, and afterwards, she served for many years as the Site Manager for Foodnet Meals on Wheels at Lansing's Woodsedge Senior Apartments. 

She is survived by a son, Michael H. Traver, of King Ferry; a daughter-in-law, Deborah (Swearingen) Traver, of FL; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Clarence A. Traver, and a son, Gerald C. Traver, both in 2021; a brother, David Mack; and George & Clista Hildreth, who raised her. She was also predeceased by her many Hildreth and Traver family siblings and in-laws.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 14 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 St. Rt. 90, Genoa.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, preceding the service.  Interment and prayers of committal will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 15 at North Lansing Cemetery.
