Beverly Gonsalves

Forever 520

Beverly Gonsalves, 69, was born in Hyannis and raised in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, great-grandmother, sister, and caregiver whose heart and home were always open to others. To know Beverly was to know what it felt like to be welcomed, cared for, and loved unconditionally.

Beverly found her life's calling in 1989 when she began working at Groton Nursing Home. There, she discovered her deep love for caring for the elderly during their final years. In 1990, she opened her own private home care business, welcoming residents into her home and making it her mission to ensure they felt safe, comfortable, and loved. She wanted everyone in her care to feel at home, because to Beverly, caring for others was never just a job. It was who she was.

Her family was her greatest joy. She was always there, showing up for school events, birthdays, holidays, and life's most difficult moments. She loved baking birthday cakes for her family, making gifts special, and finding little ways to remind people how much they meant to her. Beverly was a giver in every sense of the word, always thinking of others and finding ways to make them feel special. Her door was always open to anyone looking for comfort, kindness, or a place to belong.

She found happiness in life's simple pleasures: shopping, visiting family on Cape Cod, spending time at her favorite beaches, mowing her lawn, planting flowers, and decorating her home for every holiday. She loved her peaceful mornings on the patio, sipping her first cup of coffee with her dogs beside her and the birds singing nearby. She took pride in making her home beautiful, warm, and welcoming, reflecting the same love and care she gave to everyone around her.

Her favorite tradition was Christmas Eve, when her family gathered for dinner, games, music, and laughter. Those evenings were everything Beverly loved most: family together under one roof, sharing memories and making new ones. Her home was filled with the sounds of laughter, the comfort of familiar traditions, and the love of the people who meant the world to her. These are the memories her family will hold close and continue to carry forward for generations to come.

Beverly is survived by her beloved husband, Alan Barros; her children, Tamarra (Gonsalves) Brooks, Steven Gonsalves (Rachel), Jacob VanBenSchoten, Syreeta Amaral (Phil), Zack Barros, Marcus Barros, and Kali Sousa; and her sisters, Kiya Gonsalves and Karen Gonsalves. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Tiffany Metcalf (Carl), Ashley Gonsalves (Joey), Vanessa Gonsalves, Travion Brooks, Andreas Gonsalves, Michelle Gonsalves, Mason West, Collin West, and Ilyana Amaral; her great-grandchildren, Dandiel Oliver, Ariana Oliver, Zhanovia Gonsalves, Zhayanna Gonsalves, Marquez Oliver, and Ariella Lupo; and her nephew, Frank Gonsalves.

Beverly's love extended beyond the family she was born into. She had a special place in her heart for Ryan Anderson, whom she loved as a son, and River Anderson, whom she loved as a grandson. They meant so much to her and were part of the extended circle of love she created throughout her life. Beverly never needed to be asked to make room in her heart for someone else. She simply loved people, welcomed them in, and made them feel like family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Luciele (Senna) Gonsalves; her father, Frank Gonsalves; her brother, Frank Gonsalves; and her sister, Valerie Perry.

In accordance with Beverly's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. The family respectfully asks for privacy during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of this extraordinary woman.

Beverly's legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, and always showing up for the people who mattered most. She taught those around her to give freely, welcome others without hesitation, and make room for the people who need love the most. Her legacy lives on in the generations she raised, the lives she touched, the people she welcomed as family, and the traditions she created.

Forever loved. Forever missed. ❤
