Alice S. Sedorus

Alice S. Sedorus, 87, of Venice Center, passed away on May 3, 2026 at Auburn Community Hospital with her children by her side, after a brief illness.

Alice was born October 27, 1938 in Moravia, where she resided her entire life. She was a daughter of the late Wesley and Gertrude (Lemm) Scott. After graduating from Genoa High School, Alice started nursing school and also worked at Kemper Insurance until she met Arthur Sedorus. They were married on November 9, 1957. They started their own dairy farm which they operated until 1991. Alice and Art donated the land for the Long Hill Fire Department, where they were Charter Members, and where Alice served as the secretary and on the ambulance squad for several years. Along with the help of family and friends, they built the log home where they resided until just recently, when she built and moved into a new home at the site. She enjoyed antiquing, quilting, creating award winning gardens and especially enjoyed her family get-togethers. She was a loving wife and mother, and her wit and quiet humor will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children: Dawn Sedorus, Dusty Sedorus and Tina (Luther) Wiers; grandchildren: Tashina (Bo) McCormick, Wade (Angela) Wiers, Joseph Sedorus, Kati (Kyle) Gibson and Nicholas (Kate) Sedorus; great- grandchildren: Cheyenne (Chase) McCormick & Jack McCormick, Phoenix (Faith), Dominic & Percy Wiers, Jackson & Isabella Sedorus, Kristian, Kora & Kamdon Gibson; great-great-grandson Memphis Raymond; and her sisters, Mary Prine and Mildred Meeker.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Art in 2006; by a son, Gregg Allen in 1963; and by her brothers Bernard, Arnold, Charles, Bill & Ted Scott.

A celebration-of-life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Long Hill Fire Dept from 1:00-4:00 pm. Burial will be at the East Venice Cemetery at a later date at the family’s discretion. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Long Hill Fire Dept.

We will miss her greatly.
